ARTIST'S BIO

Allison Hurwitz is a painter, portrait artist, and therapist specializing in work with children. She has studied fine arts at The Art Students League, Parsons School of Design, and the Santa Fe International Academy of Art. Her work has been exhibited in group shows in New York City, Princeton, and Lambertville, NJ, as well as at the Newark International Airport. Allison's work was also featured in a solo show at the Beth Or Art Gallery in Spring House, PA. Additionally, her work is held privately in both individual and corporate collections.

Allison's choice of children's portraits as subject matter has been inspired by the many beautiful children with whom she has worked, past and present, and by her four incredible nieces: Ariella, Maya, Alexa and Lindsey. She is continually impressed by the ability of children to find joy in the simplest things, by their resiliency, and most of all, by the purity and generosity of their hearts. It is this combination of innocence, joy, strength and vulnerability that she wishes to convey in her portraits.

Allison's mixed media and abstract work explore relationships between people as well as relationships in nature. Her landscape paintings celebrate her reverence for and love of nature while enabling her to revisit treasured places through their creation. Whether she is painting portraits, figures or landscapes, her intention is to capture the true essence of her subject and to convey their unique spirit through color, light and form.
