CHILDREN'S
PORTRAITS
When
painting your child’s portrait, my desire is to capture
the uniqueness of your child's individual spirit, creating one-of-a-kind
portraits that will be cherished by your family for many years
to come.
PROCEDURE
Working from your beloved photographs enables me to capture the
true essence of your child in his or her natural environment,
without requiring lengthy poses that are difficult for children
to sit through. For portrait painting, photographs need to be
of high quality. This does not mean that they need to be taken
by a professional. However, they do need to be clear images with
good color quality and sufficient contrast between dark and light
areas. Photographs taken outdoors are preferable because these
generally have the best light source. However, I would be happy
to work from indoor photos that meet the above criteria.
It
is helpful to send additional photographs of your child as they
provide me with additional visual information and also help me
get a better feel for your child=s individual personality. Please
make sure that you keep copies of the original photographs for
yourself.
TIMING
Generally, portrait paintings are completed within 2-3 months,
depending on size, detail and the number of children included
in the painting.
PAYMENT
A non-refundable 50% deposit is required with a signed agreement
before any work begins.
At the midway point, a photograph of the partially completed portrait
will be sent to you for your approval. Modifications can be made
at this time and 25% of the balance is also due.
The balance will be due upon delivery of the completed painting.
SHIPPING
Shipping costs depend upon where you are located and the size
of the painting and are not included in the painting fee. Before
we sign an agreement, I can let you know how much shipping would
cost based upon your location and painting size. For clients within
the NY tri-state area, I often deliver the portraits personally.
OTHER
COMMISSIONS
While
my specialty is children’s portraits, I am happy to paint
any subject matter that interests you, including but not limited
to: portraits of adults, pets or houses, landscapes, interiors
